Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry refers to procedures that aim to restore the health and function of teeth affected by decay, trauma, wear, or discoloration. Treatment options may include fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, inlays, and onlays, depending on the clinical condition of each patient.

These procedures are selected following professional assessment and are intended to support oral function and structural integrity.

CROWN

Crowns are fixed dental prosthesis that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants to provide the best long term protection and to improve look, strength and function.

When to use it?

Crowns may be placed the tooth has been broken or severely damaged by decay. In comparison, white fillings can only be used to repair teeth with small/ moderate size of decays. Crowns can also be used to mask tooth defects such as cracks or discolourations, which improves patients’ smiles.

Key information

  • Temporary crowns can sometimes be cemented onto the tooth while the permanent one is being made in a dental lab
  • While crowns and bridges can last a lifetime, they do sometimes come loose or fall out. The most important step to ensure the longevity of the crown is to practice good oral hygiene and regular dental checkup.
